Stock market update: Metal stocks rise; MOIL climbs 4%

NEW DELHI: Metal stocks were trading with gains at 11:34AM (IST) on Tuesday.

Shares of MOIL (up 4.04 per cent), Hindalco Industries (up 3.48 per cent), JSW Steel (up 2.74 per cent), Tata Steel (up 0.56 per cent) and Hindustan Zinc (up 0.33 per cent) were among the top gainers.

While NMDC Ltd (down 2.68 per cent), Coal India (down 2.05 per cent), Mishra Dhatu Nigam (down 1.77 per cent), Welspun Corp (down 1.12 per cent) and Hindustan Copper (down 0.96 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

The Nifty Metal index was trading 0.73 per cent up at 2438.2 around 11:34AM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 38.70 points at 11426.2, while the BSE Sensex was up 135.22 points at 38763.51.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 29 were trading in the green, while 21 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, SBI, IDFC First Bank Ltd. and Tata Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Larsen & Toubro Infotech Ltd., Infibeam Avenues Ltd., Max Healthcare Institute Ltd., Ruchi Soya Inds and Hathway Cable hit their fresh 52 week high in today’s trade, while Khandwala Securities Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
