Azul Linhas Aéreas has announced the suspension of its operations in 14 cities due to what it has classified as a constant reevaluation of its market operations and needs.
Of the total, four operations with destinations for cities in Ceará were suspended on the 13th of this month, and the others will take place next March and include destinations from the regions Northeast, Southeast, Midwest and South of the country.

In addition to these suspensions, Azul will adjust the operation in the cities of Cabo Frio (RJ) and Caldas Novas (GO). They will not be definitively suspended, but their flights will be temporary, operating only in the high season months, starting on March 31st.
What is the reason for the suspension?
According to Azul, the changes occurred “due to a number of factors such as increasing operating costs caused by the global crisis in the supply chain, the high dollar and fleet availability.”
The company said that impacted customers will be communicated in advance and all will sign the assistance debt, as provided for in the rules of the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac).
In early January, the ABRA group, Gol and Avianca’s majority controller, announced a memorandum of understanding to evaluate the merger of these companies with Azul, covering national, regional and international operations.
The realization of this merger depends on the departure of the goal of its judicial recovery process. Gol, founded by Nenê Constantino, will not directly participate in the management of the new company, which will be led by Abra. The future company, if the merger occurs, will be managed by a board of three ABRA members, three from Azul and three independents.
